You are stressed, exhausted, restless, your head is full, or you simply want to unwind. We all know that feeling. With my art, I want to step in right there, or even before, so it never gets that far. For me, a work has succeeded when it gives you something to hold on to for a moment, pulls you out of your everyday life, and gives you energy back. Calm that lasts, even the hundredth time you look at the painting, because you sink into it anew each time. Creating that depth is what drives me most to make my art.
My paintings still have this effect on me, even years later. With some of them, I deliberately go beyond calm: when I look away from the painting, I feel new energy and strength. The strength to do what you have been itching to do is what I aim for with these paintings.
